History

This event is not new, in fact, it was born in 1966. The first edition of the Barcelona International Jazz Festival opened with a concert by Dave Brubeck and his quartet on November 3, 1966. Since then, the festival has celebrated almost every year during the autumn.

The city of Barcelona has seen countless internationally renowned artists thanks to this festival. Some like Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Jimmy Smith, and many others. In 1989, The Project organization took over the management of the festival. Today he continues to deal with it.

The Festival

The Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival of Barcelona is taking place on 26th October – 21st December 2018. During these six weeks, you will be experiencing jazz artists and shows with a huge variety.

The current festival opens with jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall. The Canadian will perform in the Auditorium, in the Barcelona Forum. His fifteenth album “Turn up the quiet”, which seeks a return to the origins of American jazz, has just been launched. But after this first official concert of the festival, do not miss the opening ceremony to be held at Moll de la Fusta. A big party with 12 hours of music, accompanied by an incredible gastronomic offer. “Eating, drinking, listening, dancing, sharing, enjoying it”. Jazz & Food, the innovative proposal of the Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival in Barcelona.

Not one, not two, and not three but seventeen concert halls made available to artists at the Barcelona Jazz Festival. The artists have located in all corners of the city, easily accessible thanks to public transport (metro and bus).

Here is a list of the rooms where you can attend concerts: Apolo, Auditori del Fôrum, Barts, Cafè del Conservatori del Liceu, Conservatorio del Liceu, Cotton Club (Casino Barcelona), Cotton House, El Asador de Aranda, Harlem Jazz Club , Hotel El Palace, Luz de Gas, Auditorium Room 2, Auditorium Room 3, Monvínic, Palau de la Música Catalana, Razzmatazz, Teatre del Auditori Sant Cugat.
