The beautiful show to celebrate the Catalan Modernism.
Have you even seen the beautiful mapping shows in Barcelona? On special occasions some of the facades of the buildings of the city turn into big screens of impressive projections that the artists of the city prepare for us. This Christmas season is not an exception. It is turn of the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site to offer a mapping show called “The light of Sant Pau”. The show will be projected every afternoon form 23rd December till the last day of the year from 18:00 to 22:30 continuously.
The façade of the Sant Pau Site will be impressing us with its colourful lights. The projected images will tell us a story that the authors have prepared. This mapping show “aims to be a bridge between the sky and the earth; a moment to celebrate that the days are getting longer, the sun takes over from the night, and nature gets ready to be born again”. The show will be paying tribute to the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The architect´s works, including the Sant Pau Site, play a very important role for the Catalan modernism.
The Hospital de Sant Pau was designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. It was built during 1901 to 1930 making it the oldest hospital in Spain. The structure displays the legacy of Barcelona during the 19th century. The building was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1997. After serving as a public hospital for a century, its newly refurbished pavilions shine again in all their splendour. A visit to this architectural ensemble is a trully unique experience.
